Objectives
To support the presence and competitive position of U.S. businesses in emerging markets through engaging in the non-member work of the OECD, providing business input to OECD and WTO accession processes, and responding to issues raised by our members. We support the development of legal and business infrastructures in transition economies, and coordinate USCIB committee work relating to the BRICS countries.
Current Priorities
· Consult with USTR on WTO accession of Russia, supporting accession under terms that lead to substantial trade liberalization for goods and services; the establishment of an effective legal system with clear and uniform laws protecting investors' rights; enforcement of intellectual property law and TRIPs implementation.
· Participate in and help shape the work program of the BIAC Expert Group on Transition Economies and Development Issues.
· Provide business input to the OECD during Russia’s accession process.
· Support the OECD Investment project in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
